Sheffcare go for Olympic Gold!
It's never too late to excel in sport…as residents from our SheffCare homes demonstrated when they swept to victory at the 2011 Care Home Olympics!
The Care Home Olympics, organised by Sheffield Primary Care Trust’s Homes Support Team and Sheffield Council’s 'Activity Sheffield' aims to inspire older people and show how enjoyable physical activity can be.
Among the activities at the Don Valley Stadium event were chairobics – ideal for warming up – bowling, skittles, target throwing and dominoes.
And residents from the 11 Sheffcare residential homes across the city demonstrated their sporting prowess, with Knowle Hill Residential Home, Mosborough, coming first and Deerlands at Parson Cross taking third place.
Also participating and enjoying the stimulation of gentle sporting activity were residents from SheffCare’s Castelayn, Hawkhills and Cotleigh residential homes.
“We think this was a great achievement for all the SheffCare residents who went along and had a great day out,” said SheffCare Chief Executive Duncan Bell.
“We take great pride in encouraging all our residents to remain active and healthy and the fact that we achieved so much at the Care Home Olympics is a fantastic result for everybody!”
